Profile: Yara International ASA is a supplier of plant nutrients in the form of mineral fertilizer. We are involved in the production and marketing of nitrogen fertilizer such as urea and nitrates. Crops require a balanced diet of essential nutrients throughout their growth cycle. Nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium are the three major nutrients required for a wide range of growth processes. Boron, copper, iron, manganese, molybdenum and zinc are the six essential micronutrients needed for the growth of plants. Molybdenum is involved in plant enzyme systems that control nitrogen metabolism. Fertigation gives the combined application of water and nutrient to the plant. It can be adapted to all types of crop, but is most common in cash crop segments rather than broad-acre or arable crops. Our fertigation products include high quality calcium nitrate, potassium nitrate and a full range of micronutrient chelates. Chelates are used in soil and fertigation applications. It can also be used as a source material for foliar products. It helps overcome many problems associated with metallic ion tie-up in the soil by taking a positively charged metallic ion & turning it into a negative form that is less readily rendered unavailable in the soil.
