Profile: Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology focuses on molecular neurobiology, stem cells, metagenomics, human molecular genetics and reproductive biology. Our plant biotechnology program focuses on spice genomics for preventing and managing human disease. Our cardiovascular division is involved in the identification of factors responsible for increased risk for vascular disease in patients with type II diabetes called mellitus. The objective is to discover diagnostic biomarkers and to possibly develop diagnostic tools as well as strategies to reduce the risk. We develop cell-based and gene therapies for ischemic cardiovascular diseases.
