Profile: National Research Center on Plant Biotechnology undertakes research, teaching and training the personnel in the modern areas of molecular biology and biotechnology. Our tomato genome sequencing objective is to produce a high quality sequence of the gene-rich 5 Mb euchromatin, to process and annotate this sequence in a manner consistent and compatible with similar data from arabidopsis, rice and other plant species, to submit a sequence information to an international bioinformatics portal for comparative solanaceae genomics, to make the information available to research community & to identify agronomically important genes from tomato gene. Our pigeonpea genomics is involved in large scale EST & genomic DNA sequencing, and for the development of SNP & SSR markers.
