Medical informatics is the scientific field that deals with the storage, retrieval, sharing and optimal use of biomedical information, data and knowledge for problem solving & decision making. The discipline shares a considerable degree of overlap with conventional bioinformatics, but, with its focus on computational methods in a medical environment, it also encompasses quantitative methods for studies in the fields of health and medicine, for example, the design of & statistical analysis of drug trials. Consequent to rise in patient data, hospitals, and clinical researchers have to focus on medical data maintenance. Electronic medical records (EMR) allows all the information about a patient from disparate clinics and labs to be kept in a single & central record that can move with the patient. Systems such as hospital information systems (HIS) and electronic data management systems (EDMS) also manage these records along with billing & administration. In search for quicker and more convenient access to critical patient information, researchers are now looking for a virtual clip-board, with which they can interact.
