Profile: The Main Bio Control Research Laboratory focuses on the multiplication of tissue culture seedlings. Our main focus is to control the serious pest of sugarcane called internode borer. We have introduced mass multiplication methods for Trichogramma parasite. Sugarcane internode borer is a very serious pest; it is used to attack the cane only in the grown-up stage. The best method to control this pest can be done by the biological method. In this method, the Trichogramme parasitoid is bred in the laboratory on the artificial medium and released in the fields for the successful control of sugarcane internode borer at the egg stage itself. It is proved that this particular parasitoid is capable of controlling not less than 65% of pest in the field condition.
