It is produced by a strain of Escherichia coli bearing a genetically engineered plasmid that contains a human G-CSF gene. This product regulates the production, maturation, and function of cells of the neutrophil lineage. It is used to treat cancer patients suffering from chemotherapy-induced neutropenia.
